Pennsylvania EMT & AEMT Certification and Recertification

Q. Can I become a certified and licensed EMT or AEMT in Pennsylvania if I pass the EMT & Fire Training Course?

A. Yes. In order to be an EMT in Pennsylvania after being trained outside of Pennsylvania, you must hold an NREMT certificate, and the course must be a U.S. Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum Course. Our course follows the DOT Curriculum and is approved for use in the NREMT Certification Process. This EMT course curriculum covers all EMT Basic knowledge and skill requirements. The AEMT Course protocols are still being worked on by the state. Please call your state to see if our course would work for the AEMT level.

Q. Where is the state of Pennsylvania in the transition from the National Standard Curriculum to the new National EMS Education Standards?

A. Pennsylvania has 3 levels of EMS Personnel: First Responder, EMT (Which is the same as EMT), and Paramedic.

Q. Does Pennsylvania require any extra EMT training that EFT does not provide in its course?

A. NO

Q. How do I recertify for EMS in the State of Pennsylvania?

A. To recertify in the state of Pennsylvania, an EMT will need at least 24 hours of Continuing Education Credits in 3 years, including 12 training hours in medical/trauma.

We offer an online refresher that is 24 hours, and includes 10 hours of self-directed learning, and 14 hours of Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) sessions where a real instructor is present to answer questions and discuss the topics. It is fully accepted by the NREMT and is CECBEMS accredited. This is only one of the few online refreshers that meet the actual requirements by the NREMT to be counted as an official refresher. You have 2 years to complete the refresher from the time you sign up (or you can usually get it done in as little as 2 to 3 weeks). The cost of the refresher is $249.

Q. I failed the NREMT exam 3 times already. Will your 24 Hour Online EMT Refresher allow me to retest with the NREMT?

 A. Yes. Once you pass our 24 Hour EMT Online Refresher course you will have 3 more opportunities at taking the NREMT Exam. The Course is accepted by the NREMT and covers all 24 hours of the Mandatory Core and Content required. To insure that you pass on your next attempt you can practice for the exam with our test prep site.
