Vermont Online EMT Course Acceptance and Certification

Q. Can I become a certified and licensed EMT in Vermont if I pass the EMT & Fire Training EMT B Course?

A. Yes. Vermont allows applicants to apply for licensure through reciprocity using an NREMT certificate. Our online EMT Basic Course is approved for NREMT certification. Upon successful completion of this course a student will be authorized to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) practical skills and cognitive examinations. After passing the examinations the student will be awarded NREMT Basic Certification. These certification exams are used as basis for state licensure or certification in most states, or are honored with reciprocity during the licensure process.

Included in the EMT-Basic and EMT-Intermediate course, that EMT & Fire Training has to offer, is full access to our test prep site to help you study for the NREMT exams at no extra cost. http://www.emt-national-training.com/

Q. Where is the state of Vermont in the transition from the National Standard Curriculum to the new National EMS Education Standards?

A. The state of Vermont and the EMS board is in the process of developing the new EMS changes for EMTs. Once the NREMT starts administering the examinations in the new levels, Vermont will offer the new levels of training. All levels must transition by their second recertification after March 1, 2011.

Q. Does Vermont require any extra EMT training that EFT does not provide in its course?

A. No.

Q. How do I recertify for EMS in the State of Vermont?

A. To renew your EMT-B certification or license in Vermont, simply renew your National Registry certificate by taking a 24-hour refresher course. EMT & Fire Training Inc. offers an online refresher that is 24 hours, and includes 10 hours of self-directed learning, and 14 hours of Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) sessions where a real instructor is present to answer questions and discuss the topics. It is fully accepted by the NREMT and is CECBEMS accredited. This is only one of the few online refreshers that meet the actual requirements by the NREMT to be counted as an official refresher. You have 2 years to complete the refresher from the time you sign up (or you can usually get it done in as little as 2 to 3 weeks). The cost of the refresher is $249.
