South Dakota EMT & AEMT Course Acceptance and Certification Information

EMT Training Courses in SD

Q. Can I become a certified and licensed EMT or AEMT in South Dakota if I pass the EMT & Fire Training EMT or AEMT Course?

A. Yes. South Dakota allows NREMT certified prospective EMS personnel to apply for licensure through reciprocity. Our NREMT EMT and AEMT Courses assist you in obtaining a National Registry certification. Upon completion of our course and passing your National Registry exams you will receive a certification through the NREMT, which you can then use to apply for licensure through the reciprocity application in the state of South Dakota.

Q. Does South Dakota require any extra EMT training that EFT does not provide in its course?

A. No.

Q. How do I recertify for EMS in the State of South Dakota?

A. To recertify for licensure in the State of South Dakota you must remain certified with the NREMT. The NREMT requires refresher hours for each level of certification. We offer a refresher that is 24 hours for the EMT and 36 Hours for the AEMT.

Q. I failed the NREMT exam 3 times already. Will your 24 Hour Online EMT Refresher allow me to retest with the NREMT?

 A. Yes. Once you pass our 24 Hour EMT Online Refresher course you will have 3 more opportunities at taking the NREMT Exam. The Course is accepted by the NREMT and covers all 24 hours of the Mandatory Core and Content required. To insure that you pass on your next attempt you can practice for the exam with our test prep site.

 Q. I failed the NRAEMT exam 3 times already. Will your 36 Hour Online AEMT Refresher allow me to retest with the NREMT?

 A. Yes. Once you pass our 36 Hour AEMT Online Refresher course you will have 3 more opportunities at taking the NRAEMT Exam. The Course is accepted by the NREMT for both AEMT and I85 and covers all 36 hours of the Mandatory Core and Flexible Core Content required. To insure that you pass on your next attempt you can practice for the exam with our test prep site.

 Q. Will your 36 Hour Online AEMT Refresher allow me to recertify as an Advanced EMT?

 A. To recertify with the National Registry as an AEMT you will need to complete the 36 Hour AEMT Refresher, an additional 36 Continuing Education (CE’s) hours, and have a current CPR Certification. If you are doing this Refresher for State Licensure, please check with your state first to see if they will accept this 36 Hour Online AEMT Refresher that is CECBEMS approved and NREMT accepted.
